The Australian administrator Clifford Dodd is known as the Father of Commercial Broadcasting in Sri Lanka. He arrived in Colombo in the 1950s under the Colombo Plan to help the Government of Ceylon. Clifford Dodd set up the Commercial Service of Radio Ceylon and was the first Director of the Service.
He made the Commercial Service into a money spinner and trained young and new talent recruiting them as announcers of Radio Ceylon.
