These were immortal and ageless, and when Odysseus's men slaughtered them, she went to Helios who asked of Zeus to have revenge, or else he would shine light among the dead (underground). Zeus then sent a lightning bolt down and a storm, killing all of Odysseus' men, while their doom was portended by the meat writhing and lowing on the spits.
