The "rook". A rook is the name of a Eurasian bird of the crow family. A rook is also the chess piece that resembles a tower of a castle.
It could be a treepie, or an ani bird (which has grey eyes). Although the more usual suspects are the rook, raven, jackdaw, which are similar in colour and shape. It could simply be a different sub-species of the crow you are use to seeing. The trick is to listen out for their vocalisations.
