Why is barrel racing hard?
Barrel racing can be hard because of all the work that goes into it. You have to have a good horse to start with, and then if it is not already trained, you have to teach them the ins and outs out rodeo life. You have to have a horse that can stop on a dime and turn the tightest turn possible without knocking the barrel, even if that means touching the rim of the barrel as you go around. You also have to do this in the fastest time possible, so that means flying at top speeds and then dropping on a dime to turn and then go onto the next barrel. If you fail to do this, you not only knock a barrel, but may also split your leg open as well or at the very least have one hell of a bruise (from personal experience). Though it is hard, rodeo is my life and couldn't live without it! Cowgirl/cowboy up and run your heart out!

Depends where you live. Also it matters if its the 1894 cowboy or the 1894 cowboy limited. If it actually is a cowboy limited it matters if its the 20'' or the 24'' barrel. If in fact its the 24'' cowboy limited and in good condition people will pay 800-1000. They are very hard to come by and marlin stopped making them when they were bought by Remington.
How do you keep a cowboy hat on head when you are barrel racing?
Most people I know hold the reins in one hand and keep the hat on their head with their other hand. If you can't do that, maybe pin it down with bobby pins...? Build up to it, but when just learning about barrel racing, I suggest you don't use a cowboy hat just yet. ;)

If you are going to a barrel race just to watch then you can pretty much wear anything. But if you are going to ride in a barrel race your choices are pretty limited! Most barrel races have a certin outfit you have to wear or you will be instantly disqualified. To most barrel races you have to wear jeans, boots, a button up shirt, a hat (hats can range from many different things, some people wear cowboy hats, some wear helmets, and some even wear helmets that look like cowboy hats), a belt, and that is about it.
