China currently recognizes no emperor. The last emperor was dethroned in 1912. His name is Pu Yi and was of the Manchurian Qing Dynasty. Manchurians conquered China in 1644 and ruled the Chinese people until 1912. When the ROC (Republic of China) was founded, during the early 1900's, the Qing Dynasty was already in decline with a female emperor. Massive starvation and a problem with Europe importing drugs, opium, into China. The Qing was overthrown by the people's movement in China.

There was, however, a short lived attempt in 1912 to revive the monarchy, called the Empire of China, whose leader was Mr. Yuan Shikai. His reign was never fully accepted, and lasted a total of 2 months and he was a military dictator rather than a traditional Chinese emperor.

So the current emperor of China is nobody. And it seems to most of the world that there never again will be one.

Comment: If one were a traditional Chinese historian well versed in the Imperial customs of China, there is one such man formerly employed by the University of Hawaii, whose name is Professor Tao, one would know what qualifies one to have true Imperial standing. And part of the answer is lineage. During the ending part of the Ming Dynasty, court could see foreign rule over China, so the traditional mandate rule of leaving a prince heir was not done and the ruling mandate of heaven was continued by the families of the Chun and Chow clans.

The lineage migrated abroad to Hawaii and to California. And like the king of Afghanistan, they have lived abroad for three generations (in exile). If Manchurians kill the Han-Chinese emperor in exile, will the Chinese people now accept the Manchurian lineage as their rightful royal family? What will other people and races think?

The year 2007 has no bearing on who or which family holds the royal mandate. It is history and the will of God that should hold sway. The Chou Dynasty has always held the Mandate of Heaven as Hebrews sinocized into the Han race of men in ancient times by Nimrod.
