Goguryeo managed to defeat the Sui dynasty and after two failed invasions, the Sui dynasty failed economically which resulted in resentment of the Chinese people and ultimately the downfall of the dynasty. In essence, Goguryeo was the most significant factor contributing to the downfall of the Sui.
