Christianity as a religion is based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. Christians believe that Jesus is God Incarnate (this means that he is both fully God and fully Human- not that he was God 'morphed into a human body'). Jesus was a Jew, born to Jewish Parents, but Conceived by the Virgin Mary and the Holy Spirit. His teachings were radical, and upset many Jews at the time. Christians believe that Jesus was the Messiah that the Jews were waiting for. Those who followed Jesus Christ's teachings included Jews who accepted Jesus's radical teachings, as well as converts from other religions. In time, these people were labelled 'Christians', followers of Jesus Christ. Therefore, it would be wrong to think of Jesus as meaning to 'found' a religion.
