The Lieutenant Governor of Ontario is David Onley. The "Lieutenant" in the title Lieutenant Governor arises from the position historically being subordinate to that of the federal Governor General, though now, the Lieutenant Governor is considered to be the direct representative of the Queen in the province.

Note that Ontario follows a parliamentary, rather than presidential, system, and so the day to day running of government is left to the Premier of Ontario, a legislator chosen to chair the province's Executive Council, relegating the Lieutenant Governor to a largely ceremonial role. The current Premier of Ontario is Dalton McGuinty, though this may change following the October 6 general election.
