The queen of the Underworld is commonly Persephone (pronounced Purr-sef-on-ee). She was the goddess of flowers and springtime origanally, daughter of Demeter (and quite often, Zues as well). She was kidnapped by her uncle, Hades, when he was looking for a wife (and nobody really wanted to chill out with dead people). She was forced to stay down there, and, being so depressed and miserable, she ate nothing. Demeter was depressed as well, and neglected her jobs of making crops plentiful (first winter). Zues commanded that Hades give Persephone back, and Hades agreed, as long as she did not eat any food of the Underworld. He convinced her to have six pomegranate seeds, so therefore, she had to come back six months of the year, and her visit cause the seasons (or so they say). Anyways, Persephone was Queen of the Underworld.
