Best Answer

The inventor, Chester Carlson, first demonstrated the xerographic process in 1938. He spent the next 20 years working alone and with others to develop it into a commercially viable product. The first fully automated plain paper copier using xerography was released by the Haloid Xerox Company (later Xerox Corporation) in 1959.
