During the 1930s, totalitarian governments gained power in Germany, Italy, and the Soviet Union. These governments exerted total control over a nation, using terror to suppress individual rights and silence all of there opposition. Adolf Hitler in Germany and Benito Mussolini in Italy ruled their totalitarian states with a philosophy called fascism. Fascism emphasizes the importance of the nation or an ethnic group and the supreme authority of a leader.
Using Fascism.
Really neither... using current definitions. The use of the word Republican in various references would make one think that he was a standard Republican. Remember that the generally accepted definition of the Republican Platform is small government with little interference in business. Mussolini forced companies to support the State.. he wore a uniform as a leader. Fascism is more of a National Socialist side show. Fascism does not have the racial component that National Socialism has. Fascism stresses the State above all else and forces business to support this idea. This is completely contrary to Republican thinking. Fascism does not center power in the people... it centers power in a leader... not consensus. There're people who really don't even want to recognize Fascism as political form of government... simply because it differs so little from National Socialism.
