There are several who would be worthy of the title. Those few include BTK, the Green River Killer, and Jeffrey Dahmer. The most notorious however, would most likely be Jack the Ripper, mainly because he was never caught. If we go by numbers of victims Christman Gniperdoliga killed 964 men between the years 1568-1581 after robbing them in the Roman Empire area

Why was Jack The Ripper the best serial killer?

because he was never caught and nobody knew who he was, and he was really brutal //'Best' is not exactly the right word for Jack The Ripper. 'Infamous' better describes the work of the unknown serial killer of Victorian-era London. The Ripper is probably the most recognized serial killer of all time for several reasons. His crimes were some of the most brutal in criminal history, not content to cut his victim's throats, but to disembowel and mutilate them, some almost beyond recognition. The fact that the killer was never caught lends the air of mystery to the killer and his crimes. Had he been discovered he may have been forgotten except to professionals who study murder. It would have put an end to the conspiracy theories and some of the more outlandish myths that have surfaced through the years. And lastly, JTR was the first serial killer to have his crimes played out in the press. The publicity surrounding his crimes was enormous, not just locally but world wide. Especially Americans, who could barely wait the two weeks it took for British newspapers to arrive by ship. These are the reasons that have made Jack The Ripper a household name, and without a doubt, synonymous with evil.

What did Jack The Ripper do his victims?

The crimes of Jack The Ripper remain some of the most brutal in criminal history. Overkill is a gross understatement when speaking of London's most notorious killer. With few exceptions, his victims throat's were cut, several victims were almost decapitated, then they were stabbed, cut open and disembowelled, and mutilated. Some victims were missing internal organs, which is not uncommon for serial killers to take some kind of trophy from their victims as a way to relive the murder over and over again. JTR's crimes were sexual in nature, yet there was no sign of sexual assault on the bodies. Even in the 21st century where serial murder has become almost common, Jack The Ripper is probably the most recognized serial killer of all time.

Who is the most known serial killer?

The most recognized serial killer in history would have to be Jack The Ripper. For the average person that may not know about HH Holmes or Gary Ridgeway but there is barely a person alive that has not at least heard of Jack The Ripper. One hundred twenty-two years later, this unknown killer is still the subject of books, movies, TV shows, who dunnit's, tourist's attractions, web sites and who knows what else.

Who is the most recent imfamous serial killer?

Although many have come after him, the most recognized name in serial murder by far is the 19th century London killer, Jack The Ripper. His crimes are still some of the most brutal on record and the interest in this killer never wanes. Mostly due to the fact that the killer was never caught which has made way for outragious theories and second and third guessing. The crimes of JTR were not the result of Freemasons, a Royal conspiracy, a woman, nor was the Ripper neccessarily a medical doctor, butcher or furrier. Many times, serial killers don't come with a 'neon sign' that alerts the world to what they really are. They are master mimics, with the ability to blend in to the world around them. The real Ripper was probably never susupected in his lifetime.

Who is the most prominant serial killer?

Although there are others that have more victims and this could be subject to a person's opinion, Jack The Ripper still remains the most well known serial killer of all time. In second place would be Ted Bundy.
