The significant person is always the spiritual teacher called 'GURU' in Hinduism.
After he/she passes away - and after several centuries he/she is worshiped
by ignorent persons as another form of 'GOD' or 'Deity'.
When the 'Guru/teacher' was alive he/she taught the way to inner peace, fulfillment, contentment or whatever we call it via meditation.
Once he/she leaves another realized person takes on him/her-self to teach the samething to any interested persons.
Mostly, this 'significant person' does not do it for money, fame or power. But, then there are charlatans who mis-lead and rip off the gullible.
The identity of a true master/teacher is by the fruits/the experience of the student.
S/He only directs the student - does not perform miracles nor meditates for the student/pupil.
Having learn t from the teacher thew student is expected to work for his/her salvation/inner peace/fulfillment/contentment or whatever!
