if you mean literally physically strongest. then it would be hercules. in one version of his life he was the son of Zeus and was turned almost completely mortal from a serum yet retained his ridiculous amount of strength because he didn't drink the entire thing. others say it was his father and a mortal woman that made him. if you dont mean physically strongest maybe you think medusa. she was the only mortal out of the other two of her sisters yet she was the most powerful. however she was still mortal and was beheaded by another man and he used her head as a weapon there are several stories of "heros" (god-like mortals) that have other people
According to Greek Mythology Hercules(also known as Heracles)was the strongest of all. Many people think that Atlas {the one holding the Earth on his back} is the strongest of all, but in a war strength as well as strategy is also important.. so all over Hercules had the power to defeat any one ( except magical forces and his Father Zeus as Zeus had thunderbolt) but if he fights any one in his immortal form he can easily crush any one.
"In history" is perhaps not the most appropriate term to use for a mythological figure, but the Greek god of strength was Kratos.
