This contributed to a lack of preparation and absence of fail safe plans and equipment for such deep off shore drilling. BP, their management, and stockholders are also to blame for their extremely poor response in managing the disaster, and in their initial and ongoing attempts to cover up and distort the true impact and tragic volume of oil going into the Gulf waters.
