How do I start warmachine?
If you are interested in playing Warmachine and have a Local Game Store your best bet is to see if you have a local pressganger (volunteers.privateerpress.com/location/users). If you do they should be able to teach you the game, let you try some factions out before investing, and answer some questions for you about the game and its different factions. In general Battleboxes are the easiest way to start (if your faction is part of the 2-player battle boxes they offer even better value. See below). Also should look to get the token set which gives helpful markers for the game. The quickstart rules come in the box so (with an opponent) you have what you need to play (minus dice and a tape measure). The battleboxes give you a caster and some warbeasts/jacks. This way you can practice small games (Highly Recommended!!!) without elements like solos/units to get a grasp on the game's mechanics before complicating things. Once you have a grasp on the rules and are ready to expand look to get the rule book (Warmachine Prime, and Hordes Primal) and your faction book. These will give you what you need to know to make future purchases and expand your force. Also worth noting are the Two Player battle boxes (currently there is a Protectorate of Menoth/Khador box for Warmachine and a Circle of Oroboros/Legion of Everblight box for Hordes). If you and a friend are each interested in playing one of these factions they offered by far the best value (alternatively you can sell off the other half).
