No one actually killed Christ. He was put through much agony but he know when His time was up for it is recorded in scripyure "Father into thy hands I commit my spirit" meaning he voluntarlily gave up the ghost, or his spirit to leave his body.

The Bible says "He who knew no sin, became sin for me, that I could be made the righteousness of God." If we did not sin, Jesus would never have needed to come to earth to die on the cross for those sins.
Physically the Jews were under Roman rule and had no authority to kill anyone. The Romans performed the execution. Pilate found him innocent but offered the Jews a choice of one of two prisoners to be set free and then gave into the voice of the crowd and ordered him crucified.
