Otus, Ephialtes' twin brother killed him on accident. They were distracted by Artemis, and they threw their javelins and was speared by each other. They then died.
Otus and Ephialtes.
Cleisthenes 508 BCE, restored by Ephialtes 460 BCE and cemented by Pericles after Ephialtes' assassination.
Ephialtes was the twin of Otus, they were Giant twins, and the sons of Poseidon and Iphimedia (or Canace). They were killed accidentally by each other's javelins and the cunning of Artemis.

Ephialtes.
Begun by Cleisthenes 508 BCE, revived by Ephialtes 460 BC, extended by his deputy Pericles after Ephialtes was murdered for doing it.
Cleisthenes, Ephialtes, Pericles.
Pericles was not the leader of the emerging democracy in Athens in 462 BCE - this was Ephialtes. His deputy Pericles took over after Ephialtes' assassination in 460 BCE. It is more likely that Pericles introduced jury pay in his citizenship law in 451 BCE. Whatever the date of jury trials, Cimon was exiled in 461 BCE - his opponent then being Ephialtes. We have no evidence that Cimon was exiled by a jury trial. If this was so, it would have been Ephialtes who organised it, not Pericles.
