When I bought my Valero goblets, wine, etc (56 pieces in all) I paid $25 for them, and was told they were "restaurant silver"...
Goblets make wine taste better because it impacts the temperature and taste of the wine. The wine's exposure to air is maximized. The aromas will need to breath and thus give the wine a great taste.
Inexpensive, transparent or translucent, pretty, waterproof.

Although I have never used "goblets" in my slow cooker I imagine they would save some time in that they can be used instead of a serving platter, however I would recommend a "Pyrex" brand to withstand the heat and prevent the glass from shattering which would make for an unpleasant meal.
