A curfew is the time that everyone is to be off the streets and at home. In WW2 many cities had patrols that would stop people if they were out beyond curfew. Today, most cities have a curfew for minors to be home and off the streets.

Of course! Practical cars had been developed back in the 1880s. Cars weren't nearly so widespread as today but they were very common in cities where there were paved streets.
