Moses had "laid hands on" Joshua, however... and had passed God's Holy Spirit unto him. So, Joshua became the Israelites' "prophet of record" after Moses.
"...Joshua the son of Nun was full of the Spirit of Wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the Lord commanded Moses." (Deut.34:9)
Immediately before his death, Moses transferred his leadership responsibilities to Joshua.
