The USA then left the country in Jan. 1973, and S. Vietnam fell to North Vietnam in 1975, because S. Vietnam was corrupt and incompetent. Cambodia and Laos also fell the Communists and the "Domino" theory became fact. The Vietnam War failed because there was no way the USA could win the war if S. Vietnam could not fight for themselves. The Gulf of Tonkin incident was the biggest lie in the history of the USA and cost the lives of countless human beings in a wasted effort. The USA was Not beaten on the battlefield, (the B-52's proved that). It just gave up on South Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, who were incable of defending their own nation.

LBJ's Great Society declared a war on poverty, and reduced the poverty rate from 20% to 13%. Also, he outlawed discrimination at work and other places with his civil rights acts. To add, he gave money to schools and established or funded scholarships. Finally, he made medicare or medicaid Plus, some think the Vietnam as a bad war, but we helped trying to keep the South Vietnamese free, which was not the greatest thing because they were very corrupt and not willing to fight. He never even declared a war, it was a policing action. North Vietnam was trying to invade the South and were killing innocent resistors. But the south did the same thing. He waged a pointless war and got a lot of good men killed. He even lied about the fact of Americans getting killed. There are no good things about him.
