Anaximander postulated that man originally came from animals of another species. He proposed that humans must have evolved from a different type of animal due to their physical vulnerability at birth compared to other animals. Socrates, Coplestone, and Robert Hooke did not make this particular hypothesis.
The three Greek philosophers were Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. Socrates is known for his method of questioning, Plato for his philosophy on ideal forms, and Aristotle for his work in logic, metaphysics, and ethics.
Socrates did not found a school in the institutional sense. His discourses, debates and arguments were conducted in the market place, temple courtyard and friends' houses. But Socrates and his long line of student generations Plato, Aristotle, Alexander, Anaximander....who followed and further developed his theories are collectively called the Socratic school of thought. Plato founded an educational institution which he termed The Academy and Aristotle founded his own which he called The Lyceum.
Socrates' full name was Socrates of Athens.
The pre-Socratic philosophers were early Greek thinkers before Socrates who laid the foundation for Western philosophy. Some notable pre-Socratic philosophers include Thales, Anaximander, Heraclitus, Parmenides, and Empedocles, who explored metaphysical, cosmological, and ethical questions through their writings and teachings.
