Why did people smoke?
Early smoking was triggered by advertisements. Advertisements made people think that smoking made them look cool, it targeted young adults and sold cigarettes like beer is being sold today. After people were hooked, they no longer smoked to be cool, they smoked because they were addicted to them. In today's society some people still believe smoking to be cool, but this doesn't happen as much as it did back then because advertisements no longer sell their products like beer today is. The main reasons people smoke today is either because of addiction to the nicotine, or to get rid of their stress.
How does smoking start?
for me, i was bored at a disco one night, tried it and liked it! I'm 15 i started smoking 2 years ago at a well by my school took the edge off made a lot of people think i was cool or a "rebel" a lot of my friends were doing it and it made them seem cool. Plus if you can do tricks it makes you look kinda cool. I saw them doing it and still being intelligent and in shape for the most part so it seems ok and it is ok.
How you started smoking?
Because I thought it was cool. Thirty-five years later, after many attempts, I managed to quit. Don't start. I'm 15 in 8th grade all my friends did it at the well by my school and they all looked really cool and like "rebels" doing it so for 2 years I've been smoking. It made a lot of people think I looked cool. The only people that insulted me doing it were people I hated anyway over all I'm a very liked and intelligent person.

For most of us the actual gateway drug would be tobacco. After that first peer pressure motivated cigarette, the next step was easy! Back then smoking was widely accepted. Our parents smoked, adverts were everywhere telling us smoking was cool! Although the powers that be would lead you to believe that the evil pot plant was the culprit that led people to harder drugs, tobacco seems more likely. The huge revenue from tobacco sales was probably what made smoking so cool and Weed so taboo.
