The Bunsen burner was first invented by a British physicist and chemist called Michael Faraday in the early 19th century. It was than improved by a famous German chemist called Robert Bunsen in 1850.
The second Bunsen burner was now safer, easier and more efficient and has an 'air hole' so you could change the flame from a safety flame (the yellow one) to a efficient flame (the blue one).
A Bunsen burner is not made of pyrex, it's metal. Usually a beaker or flask made out of pyrex glass is heated by the flame from the Bunsen burner.
Robert Bunsen invented the Bunsen Burner in 1867.
