Yes! Winter the dolphin is famous for wearing a prosthetic tail.
1. Winter the dolphin is the only sea animal known to survive without a tail. But winter has a prosthetic tail, if that still counts to you. So only one out the 200,000 other sea mammals survived without a tail. I don't know about you, but I believe winter is a true miracle.
The real person is Dan Strzempka in the movie Morgan Freeman
Eh, sort of. There is an amazing true story and I will tell it to you. It was a cold day in December and only one fisherman was out. But he saw something thrashing on the shore. A small baby dolphin lay on the beach, tangled in a crab trap while the fisherman called for help. The dolphin was taken to the Clearwater marine hospital where she was given the name, winter.but poor winter had so much dead tissue! The tissue fell off and off. One day, a horrible thing happened- winter entire tail fell off! How would a baby dolphin survive without a tail? Well, she surprised everyone with a new way of swimming. She swished her stump side to side! It really worked! She was really swimming. But it's not a happy ending yet. This unusual swimming motion caused spinal problems, so she had to stop. But, a prosthetic hospital heard about there problem and went to see what they could do. The hospital was called hansel. They shared knowledge about amputees while Clearwater hospital shared about dolphins. Soon, they agreed to make winter a prosthetic (fake) tail! But after a month, winter denied two tail frames. But hansel was smart and discovered winter needed a more comfortable sock! ( the sock goes under a prosthetic to make it comfortable). So when they fixed the sock, with one big swish, winter swam normally with her new tail! Today, winter still where's her prosthetic tail to swim and is now almost 7 years old. (dated 2012) she gets many visits from people- some with problems simalar to hers. She has inspired millions including myself. So technically, yes. A dolphin can swim without their tail:)
Yes. Most dolphins can't survive without a tail because they need a tail to swim, they would most likely drown without a tail, but that doesn't mean it's completely hopeless. If Winter the dolphin can survive without a tail, another dolphin can survive too, as long as they put their fighting spirit to use for survival
It is either flipper or winter. Flipper is from an old 60's tv show. Winter is famous for her prosthetic tail. I think there both pretty popular so one those 2.
a tail
Winter's tail was caught in a crab trap. She had to have her tail amputated because it grew of infection, and due to blood loss. Winter wears a prosthetic tail to help her swim and to prevent her spine from being damaged.
