There is no simple answer. As Walmart changes suppliers from time to time. One year they could be made by one company and the next year by another. It is the same with Super Tech oil. You spent big money for the engine you are installing this filter on. You want the best protection you can buy with your hard earned money. Purchase known quality filters such as AC/Delco, Purolator, or Wix and stay away from a filter you do not know who the manufacture is or how good the quality. It may be a good filter but there is no guarantee.
As far as "...known quality filters such as AC/Delco, Purolator, or Wix..." go, I have used them all for many years; including but not limited to Fram & Motorcraft oil filters, in gas engines, as well as in my 6.9 & 7.3 diesel engines. One thing they have all had in common, was that in the diesels, within less than 100 miles the oil would turn dark-black and dirty-looking the way that diesel oil typically does.
I gave the Tech 2000 microfiber oil filters a try, and with those, as long as I was able to get them (at WalMart) they did a better job of cleaning the oil, while maintaining good oil pressure, than any of the "big name" filters ever did.
I pull heavy 5th wheel trailers, and even at 1500 miles, the oil (while of course starting to darken) was still in better shape than I ever expected it would be. I was quite surprised, and pleased, but now disappointed, that I have not been able to find them--at least at WalMart. I intend to keep trying to find them, and if anybody reading this, knows where I could, please do advise.
Champion Laboratories makes this filter for Wal-Mart. They make a variety of oil filters for a variety of brand names and even though Super Tech is Wal Mart's value line this is one of Champion Laboratories' best quality filters.
