Who makes a wider backless booster seat for children 80-100 pounds?

There are a few seats on the market that will probably fit your child. You might try the Jupiter Komfort Kruiser as it has a base that is 19.5 in wide.

Also Britax has just released a new seat called the Body Guard that has an adjustable base. I'm not sure what it is at its widest point however. It's worth check out though if you have a local Babies R Us store.

You won't find either of these seats in stores like Wal-Mart of Target. You will have to hit a baby specialty store or Babies R Us. Ordering online will likely save you some money too.

Lastly I want to give you the 5-step test to see if your child is ready for a seat belt only. Remember that just because the law says he doesn't have to be in a booster anymore doesn't mean he is safe not being in one. If your answer is no to any of these questions they are NOT ready for a seat belt only.....

Kim, a backless booster is fine AS LONG as you have head support from either a high seat back or head rests in the seating position your child is sitting in. If you do not, then a high back is needed.

For wide backless boosters, try the Cosco High Rise, Britax Roadster (no longer manufactured, but can be found. It comes in a high back, but the back may be removed and used backless), Evenflo Right Fit.

You might also wish to take a look at the clek oto booster, currently available in Canada only. In June though, they will be introducing the olli model to the US. This is a backless booster seat that attaches to your car's LATCH anchors.
