Go with a 3rd gen 3sgte. Turbocharged 245 stock hp 2.0L With nothing more than a front mount intercooler and a boost controller you can easily make 300+whp
Possibly a bad motor mount
You wrap tape or a cardboard ring around the engine mount until it fits tightly in the fuselage tube.

You'll need to move the frame mounted engine mounts. There should still be holes drilled in the frame for the V8 version. I don't remember which holes to use....it's been a few years since I did the V6 to V8 conversion on these cars. Get the motor mounts for a 78 or up Malibu with a 305 or 350. You may have to mount these to the engine and lower it into the frame to figure out where to mount the frame mounts.
The year, make, model and engine wasn't mentioned but in general you remove the motor mount anchor bolt(s), lift the engine a few inches and support it safely, unbolt motor mount(s) from engine, remove mount(s), replace mount(s) and finish in reverse order.
It is behind the radiator side engine mount.
