Spitz has been proven to be the best sunflower seed around, there was a tasting test for sunflower seeds in may 2009. I can never get to Spitz because there like 10$ for eight bags + shipping( they come from a different country) so where i live it comes to about 50$ for eight bags. So i think personally David's is the best that i can get for under 2$.

If the sunflowers are not a hybrid variety, then you can save the seed by cutting the flowers when the seeds are fully formed and loose in the head, drying the whole head for two or so weeks, rubbing them from the head, drying for a further couple of weeks, and replanting in the spring. you can use hybrid varieties as long as long as they are not sterile in which case you wont get any seeds anyway. you just wont get the same flower vigor and or good looks. zaf.
Because sunflower seeds have a high fat content and are prone to rancidity, it is best to store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. You can also store them in the freezer, because the cold temperature will not greatly affect their texture or flavor.
the best flavor is dill pickel rock on to the dill pickle
Horses can eat whole Black Oil Sunflower Seeds. These provide extra nutrition and are becoming more popular in horse feeds and supplements. Other types of sunflower seeds are not easily chewed or digested so it's best to stick to the Black Oil variety.
To the best of my knowledge, N. A. orioles basically eat insects, fruit and nectar. But you could put an oriole feeder, (for nectar), near the seeds and see.
My chickens like bugs best - any and all - then they prefer sunflower seeds mixed with wild bird seed.
sunflower seeds. Sunflower seeds only would be the WORST possible thing you could feed a lovebird or any bird, way too fatty!! My lovies like a combination of nutriberries, avicakes and fresh foods like lean protein with no seasoning or sauce (chicken), and fruits and veggies (apple, cucumber, lettuce etc) in small quantities. I give millet and sunflower seeds rarely as treats. No avocado, no chocolate.
