Depends what you mean by best. For all around use - reliability and accuracy I would say an old series 70 Colt Commander. Note that very often a very accurate sidearm will have very little play and will be quite "tight" but this also usually means that the weapon will be far more likely to jam in the field if you get down and dirty. The old combat 1911 would almost rattle if you shook them but they were very reliable and certainty accurate enough for close combat. If you want something high end I think the Kimbers and Sigs are pretty nice. For field use I personally would stick to Colts.
That is very difficult to answer because the term "best" is subjective. For the most part, Colt and Springfield are the most popular, at least in my area.
Which model? It matters.
It is a type of pistol that was created by John Browning in 1911. The standard US Army 45 caliber automatic pistol was a Model 1911.
100-10000 USD depending on specifics.
Will need serial number to tell.
probably the m9,maybe the colt 1911 A revolver.

You have made a statement, and then ask us to justify your statement? No. While Glock makes a good handgun, there is no ONE make of gun that is "the best" for everything.
I think you mean colt 1911A1 which was the US military handgun from 1911 to about 1985.
What are you looking for?
In general, any felony makes you inelligible to own a handgun.
