Lake Titicaca got it's name from it's shape. Lake Titicaca's name means puma-rock.

The word Titicaca comes from the Quechua and Aymara languages of Puno in Peru. Titi means puma and caca means rock. The name probably comes from the fact that the lake is shaped like a puma.
