Andromeda is named for the wife of the Greek hero Perseus.
Perseus had a single son named Perses.
Percy Jackson was a demigod so his mother thought it would be appropriate to name him after a hero. However, she thought it bad luck to name him after someone who had a tragic, fatal ending. There was one hero, though, named Perseus. He was one of the only ones to live a long life and marry and become a father. Even though this Perseus was a son of Zeus and Percy's father was Poisedon, he was named Perseus for good luck. That is why he's not called Theseus.

the reason was that Perseus was the son of Poseidon. Yes, Perseus is the son of Poseidon. But she named him after the son of Zeus, who was a great hero. Sally always wanted Percy (her son) to become a hero like Perseus (son of Zeus). She called him "Percy" later on, probably to make his name easer to say. -Coco
The Romans only changed the names of the gods, not the heroes. So Perseus' Roman name is still Perseus.
There's no real comparison, but Percy's mom named him after Perseus- even though Perseus was a son of Zeus- because Perseus was the only one in the myths who got a happy ending. Percy's mom hoped that Percy would receive that destiny too and named him after Perseus.
