Frederick North, Lord North who was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1770 until 1782.
King George the 3rd refused to compromise with the colonist and refused to even read the document they sent to him and therefore the some very memorable colonist (Americas founding fathers) wrote the declaration of Independence which declared to the world that the colonies were free of British rule. this later became 1 of the causes of the American revolutionary war.

They got put to death by being hung. But few if any actually were hung. These folks were called Loyalists.
The colonists were opposed to any tax imposed on them by Great Britain. In addition to voicing their opposition, the colonists also boycotted trade with Great Britain.

The American colonist did not have any disasvantages .
The Three-Fifths Compromise meant that a black person was 3/5 of a person. The compromise put off any real final solution to the slavery question until it got bad enough to cause the American Civil War.
The colonists opposed the taxes because they didn't get any benefits. The British were paying the Native Americans for American scalps if they went beyond the Appalachian Mountains. The British were forcing Americans to buy British goods even though the Dutch were willing to sell the same goods for a better price.
