A number of different printers were involved in the publication of Shakespeare's works. Sometimes these printers were the publishers, and sometimes not. The First Folio, the giant compendium of 36 Shakespeare plays printed in 1623 by Isaac Jaggard and Sons was delivered for publication by John Heminges and Henry Condell, actors in The King's Men, who owned the scripts. Thomas Thorpe published the sonnets in 1609, using three printers. Richard Field, a man originally from Stratford, printed and published Venus and Adonis. Field also printed the Rape of Lucrece, although the publisher was a Mr. Harrison. John Waterson published the first Quarto version of The Two Noble Kinsmen in 1634; it was printed by Thomas Cotes. John Danter printed and published the first quarto edition of Romeo and Juliet but the second quarto was printed by Thomas Creede, and published by "Cuthbert Burby" (Cuthbert Burbage, one of the sharers in the Lord Chamberlain's Men).
To attempt to enumerate all of the publishers of Shakespeare's work in the last 400 years would obviously take a lifetime's research and a huge amount of space.
