Stephenie Meyer had a dream on June 2, 2003 that featured the meadow scene (Ch. 13 "Confessions") from the book. She wrote her dream down and kept writing until she had a book. It only took her 3 months to write. With the encouragement of her sister, Emily, she began to send her manuscript out to hopefully be published. A month after she sent inquiries out, she got a call from a literary agent, Jodi Reamer, who wanted a copy. She liked the book, and they worked together on editing it for two weeks. It was released on October 5th 2005. She wrote three sequals to Twilight: New Moon, which was puclished on September 6, 2006, Eclipse, which was published on August 7, 2007, and Breaking Dawn, which was published on August 2nd 2008. She also wrote a book called The Host, which was published on May 6, 2008. You can go to her website for all of this information and more stepheniemeyer.com
