The Queens duties are often delegated to the Royal Family, which is why you will often see Prince Charles, Princess Anne or any other member of her immediate family taking on 'Royal' duties.

Elizabeth II as Queen of Canada

Her Majesty the Queen appoints the Governor General of Canada on the advice of the Canadian prime minister to represent Her Majesty. The Governor General performs most of the Queen's functions (though some prerogatives are the Queen's alone). The Governor General has also been authorised to summon other Canadians to act as a deputy of the Governor General, essentially also exercising the Queen's authority.

At the provincial level, the Governor General (as the Queen's representative) appoints a Lieutenant Governor for each province on the advice of the prime minister (sometimes the prime minister consults provincial ministers before advising the Governor General). The Lieutenant Governor performs the Queen's provincial functions and exercises the Queen's authority.
