Life is too short to learn from your own mistakes is a quote attributed to Eleanor Roosevelt.
As Winston Churchill once said, "thosewho do not learn history are doomed to repeat it".Basically if you don't learn about the mistakes we made as a people, we might make them again, for we learn from are mistakes. for example in a hundred years if we didn't learn about the slaves in the 1900s we may go to say Japan and make them our slaves because they look different.
It means that people who don't know their mistakes are actually going to repeat it
It is said "Those who don't know history will repeat it". This is true. If we don't know what was done in the past, we will make some of the same mistakes and such.
Remember it takes time and experience to learn life's lessons, and yes over time, you will learn how to be in a relationship better. You learn how best to avoid conflict, and how best to keep it fun. But you make mistakes, the relationship ends you move on and know better next time. And I've always said, that if it was "meant to be" then you two will end up together in the end anyways and if not then somewhere out there is your soul mate, imagine how great that will be when you meet them.

It is from the novel Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close By Johnathan Foer.
In the play "Hamlet", St. Patrick is said to be the patron saint of mistakes and confusion.
You have to be willing to try to do things even though you might fail at them. You do or should learn from your mistakes. That is how you learn the right way of doing something. A lot of people never learn from their mistakes and are doomed to repeat them their whole lives. This isn't just mechanical things, driving a nail, hitting a golf ball, it is things you do to, with, or for other people. The sooner you make the mistakes and learn by them the better off you will be. Everyone has to run into a few brick walls and bust their nose before they start to learn. At some point you start to figure out how things work. Some start later than others, and sadly some people never learn a thing. Their is an old saying, A smart man learns from his mistakes, a wise man learns from other's. A lot of people are so scared of making a mistake that they never try. They go through life doing nothing and usually get more scared of everything the older they get. Take a chance every once in a while. You might surprise yourself. It should be an informed, thought out process, but you have to do it. When you make a mistake and you will make some big ones, accept it and get on with you life. Sometimes even with the best intentions, having thought something through, made what seemed like reasonable choices, it blows up in your face. OK, look at why and make different choices the next time. It's called Growing Up and nobody said it was pleasant.
It's from the movie I Am Sam. Sam says it about Lucy and the woman on trial brings it up in the courtroom.
The word "said" has a short vowel sound.
