The band first recorded an album on their own label (Moon Records). It was sent to me by a Canadian record promoter named Bob Roper, who believed the band had potential. We played it in the US at WMMS-FM in Cleveland, and that led to interest from several American labels. Rush then decided to sign with Mercury Records in the US (it was known as Polygram in Canada).
