∙ 10y agoNo one "takes the place of Christ" in the most holy Eucharist, although the priest does stand in His place as an "alter Christus" (another Christ). But the priest pronounces the words of Christ, and Christ, Himself, becomes incarnate in the Most Holy Eucharist.
