In many (most?) states ATV's are not legal to operate as motor vehicles therefore any insurance requirement that applies to motor vehicle insurance is not applicable to ATV's. You'd have to ask the owner. You can not find it out any other way - insurance information is protected by privacy law. If you have a claim, sue them personally, I'm sure that they would have their insurance company handle the claim.
