Ibn Battuta was the Moroccan traveller who visited Tugluk Court.
Jahangir curiously demonstrated his disinterest in politics, affairs of the court, and squabbles in the zanana, or women's quarters. Indolent and alcoholic, Jahangir spent his time enjoying the pleasures of food, wine, and daily doses of opium, while Nur Jahan became the undisputed sovereign.
Emperor Akbar's first-born twins died in infancy (1564). Akbar was worried about not having a heir for his throne. He visited Shaikh Salim Chishti, a Sufi Saint, with hopes of getting blessed with a male heir. Jahangir was born in 1569, with blessings of the Saint. Thus Jahangir was a child of many prayers.
