I own a 1958 Maytag washer, it replaced a dead six year old Whirlpool washer(Motor windings fried) The Whirlpool was about 48 years younger and 1/3 the weight of the aging Maytag. It is about 1/10 the quality of the '58 beauty and now rots in crappy plastic parts in the woods. My 1958 was made in the USA, the crappy Whirpool in China. My 1958 Maytag will still be here after the Whirpool (who bought out Maytag) rots into the ground.

In today’s economy not everyone can afford to buy new appliances. The need for a good washer and dryer though makes them two of the most in demand appliances that households require. Because they can save so much time and effort, many families would do without other luxuries just to get a set in their home. However, a washer and dryer can be found at great prices if you are willing to purchase them slightly used. And it is not that hard to do. 1) You will want to determine the size of the space the washer and dryer will be put in. This is probably the single most important step regardless of whether you buy used or new. 2) Start with appliance repair stores. Many of them will sell refurbished appliances right there and you can usually get great bargains for them. 3 Next go to major chains and find out if they have a washer and dryer set that is out of box or damaged. Don’t be afraid of these two terms. Out of box usually just means and return and damaged usually mean a dent or chipped paint. In either case, if you can live with the imperfection you will get a smoking deal on these since the store wants to move them out. 4) There are always auction sites. If you go on line and search for used washer and dryer, you will find hundreds of listings. You need to be willing to put a little time into the search but you are sure to find many options including hundreds of them alone on auction sites such as eBay. 5) Garage sales and moving sales. Check your local newspaper. Moving sales are usually listed since they have bigger items to get rid of that are not normally at a simple garage sale. You can then go to these and see what you have as options. Bring your measuring tape to make sure you get the correct size. If you check out these four great resources for your used washer and dryer the chance are very favorable that you will find a set that is perfect for what you need in your home.
Washers & dryers can be the centerpiece of a laundry center, and lately these two appliances have been making dazzling appearances in the kitchen. With such a wide range of options available, purchasing a new washer and dryer can be a difficult task to accomplish. While washer capacity is key in laundry rooms across the country, many buyers fail to realize that the dryer capacity must compliment the washer size. Of course, consumers today have a host of other features to select from in choosing to upgrade or replace their current washer and or dryer. One of the easiest and most efficient ways to select a washer & dryer is to make a list of desired improvements in the pair. Perhaps better energy efficiency is demanded, perhaps front loader versus top loader is wanted, or perhaps different cycles for washing and drying more types of clothes is required, even the colors of the units themselves can be ordered. Once a simple evaluation of desired performance has taken place, narrowing the inventory of available models to units with those features takes little time. The far more difficult task is finding a pair that fit the budget. Since budgetary constraints will likely determine which washer and or dryer are purchased, taking advantage of retailer financing specials can be extremely handy. Many times these offers run at different times of the year. That being said timing the purchase may be a little on the tricky side, but can also be very rewarding. All things considered, a quick audit of what is being asked of a washer & dryer will present potential buyers with a clear picture of the wants and needs in relation to new appliances. Shoppers should make sure the pair shares capacity limitations to avoid long dryer cycle times. Savvy customers will also want to keep an eye out for offers like free in home delivery, free removal of old appliances, and free set up of new appliances. These three programs offer different values, but assure the customer that their new unit is in the house and set up to function correctly. It also means not having to pay to have the old units removed.
* Obviously you don't have a contract regarding the $3,000 she owed you, nor do you have a contract between you that she gave you the refrigerator, washer and dryer to partially pay off that debt. Unless she bought the three appliances on her own and can prove it then they are yours. Seeing a lawyer over a $3,000 debt isn't worth it so you have two choices: #1 Give her the appliances back or #2 if she did not buy the appliances or she can't prove she did then keep them as the partial payment towards the loan you gave her and move on from the situation.
Fabric is made up twisted fibers... In the dryer those fibers untwist. Air flows though the dryer and there is a mesh screen (Lint Trap)Those loose fibers collect in the lint trap. The fiber wants to stick together. This clump is lint.
Its called a Belleville spring/washer and it works by pressure. The washer is curved and when the nut is tightened down against it, the washer flattens out. But due to the heat treated memory of the metal, it wants to remain curved and pushes back against the nut which creates a locking effect between the threads on the nut and the threads on the bolt.
Pawn Shops do buy items from sellers (and the sellers can be anyone in the world who wants to sell something to the Pawn Shop). However, Pawn Shops usually do not buy anything that is very common.
