No one specifically warns Jason about the Symplegades. Any sailor would have known about the Clashing Rocks. It's one of the reasons that travel to and from Colchis was so rare. Getting to Colchis over land would have taken months, whereas traveling over the Black Sea would have been much faster.
You might be thinking of Jason's encounter with the blind seer Phineas. After saving Phineas from the Harpies, the seer tells Jason how to get past the Clashing Rocks.
Read the book.. Jason and the Argonauts.. seems like the guys were eaten by a Cyclops the ship was destroyed when they went through the crashing rocks...but I would read the book to make sure.

Yes, space rocks can be very dangerous to earth especially when they are close to us.
He was a son of Poseidon who was gifted with prophecy. Zeus, angry that he revealed too much of the plans of the gods, punished Phineas by blinding him and putting him on an island alone with an endless buffet of food. Each time he tried to eat, though, a pair of harpies would come and steal whatever food they could, spoiling what remained behind. This treatment went on until he was discovered by Jason and the Argonauts. Jason sent the sons of Boreas (who could fly) after the harpies, but at the request of Iris, did not kill them. Now free from his torment, Phineas told the Argonauts how to get past the Symplegades (the Clashing Rocks which were at the entrance to the Bosphorus - the straight that separates European Turkey from Asian Turkey).
