Bilbo was surprised to find that Gandalf was with the River-Folk.
Bilbo is surprised the next morning to find that the dwarves have left without him, as they had planned to depart on their journey to reclaim the Lonely Mountain. Bilbo then decides to catch up with them and embark on the adventure.

They felt that he had been nothing but a bother and wondered why they had brought him along. Gandalf was ready to abandon the Dwarves to go and find him.
In the book "The Hobbit" by Tolkien, Bilbo doesn't find the dwarfs, the dwarfs find him! (With the help of the wizard) It is a wonderful book and I strongly recommend reading it!
Bilbo finds the ring that he later finds out belongs to Gollum who lost it. Gollum riddles with him in order to eat him, after bilbo asks him what is in his pocket he gets it after he helped bilbo get out of the mountain.
Bilbo found both the ring and Gollum.
After Bilbo puts on the Ring and turns invisible, Gollum cannot find him, and thinks he has made his way towards the exit. Gollum heads to the exit and Bilbo follows him.
He sang songs mocking them and their ability to find him
If Gandalf and the dwarves did not show up to rescue him, Bilbo Baggins had a plan to make his way through the tunnels to locate them. However, he is saved from that undertaking when he hears the dwarves and Gandalf talking.
Because your keeping yourself busy so your not thinking about how lonely you are. When you keep yourself busy your not lonely your keeping your self company and it allows you to find who you are
