Dennis Ritchie is the creator of C Programming language and, with Ken Thompson, the creator of the Unix operating system. He is also co-author of 'The C Programming Language' (Kernighan & Ritchie), which gave rise to what is now known as K&R C, the original version of C prior to what is now known as Classic C.

Dennis MacAlistair Ritchie is a computer scienctist. He Invented the C Programming language along with Ken Thompson at Bell Labs. Dennis is also known for creating B language and the UNIX system. He was born on September 9, 1941 on Bronxville, New York. In 1967, Dennis worked at Bell Labs Computing Sciences Research Center, and in 1968, he defended his PhD thesis on "Program Structure and Computational Complexity" at Harvard University.
