In Chicago : Located along Wacker Dr. near Chicago River btw State & Wabash.
He was responding to ambient Anti-Semitism in Post-Revolution America which held that Jews should not have rights in the new country because they did not help to create it. As a result, Haym Salomon defended his own contributions and those of other Jews to the American Revolution in order to justify their rights as free citizens. (Jews were not free citizens in most European countries.)
Haym Salomon emigrated to America in the late 1770s, primarily to escape the political turmoil and persecution he faced as a Jewish man in Poland. Seeking greater freedom and economic opportunities, he settled in Philadelphia, where he became involved in the American Revolution. His financial acumen and commitment to the revolutionary cause led him to play a crucial role in funding the war effort, making him a significant figure in American history.
