Paul Ehrlich (born on 14 March 1854 in Strehlen, Silesia; died on 20 August 1915 in Bad Homburg) was a German physician, serologist and immunologist. He was the first to establish chemotherapy and developed as the first a medicaments to treat syphilis. In addition, he was involved in the development of the serum against diphtheria. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in medicine in 1908.
