Sir Walter Raleigh attacked a Spanish settlement, got beheaded in the tower of London by Queen Elizabeth 1st and also became her favourite explorer but he soon lost his favouritism by falling in love with 1 of her maids which lead to beheadment!!

Ralegh accomplishments were many and varied but he was not beheaded by the order of Queen Elizabeth I. By the time Ralegh was executed Elizabeth had been dead for 15 years and the order for execution was given by King James on a charge of high treason. While it is true that he did marry one of Elizabeth's ladies-in-waiting (Elizabeth "Bess" Throckmorton), the marriage did not lead to a death sentence. He and his wife were imprisoned in the Tower of London but eventually released.

Sir Walter Raleigh is famous for many reasons, such as: He was an English explorer and helped bring people to the new world. He was with the first colony when it landed on the shores of Roanoke Island but he soon left and didn't get back for 4 years. By the time he got back the colony was gone. He wrote several books and Queen Elizabeth had him imprisoned several times in the Tower of London. You can visit the Bloody Tower today and see some of his personal items like his bed, a book he wrote and some bits of furniture He even had a private garden there, so his stay wasn't as bad as others.

he was beheaded and his wife kept his head for 30 years
He lived from 1552 to 1618. He was an explorer and a writer. He organised several voyages to the Americas. He was patronised by Elizabeth I. From his journeys, he brought back to Europe a lot of new things including potatoes and tobacco. He led an expedition to the Orinoco to search for gold (to search for the legendary Eldorado). James I charged him of conspiration but after several years in prison he was released. After the unsuccessful journey to the Orinoco, he was charged again and executed.
