Tybalt was Juliet's cousin and a Capulet. Well, he wasn't really a Capulet because he was Juliet's mother's brother's son, and Juliet's mother was only a Capulet by marriage. Tybalt's last name was whatever Juliet's mother's maiden name was. This explains why it is Lady Capulet that goes spare over Tybalt's death, while Capulet calls him a princox and a saucy boy.
However, Tybalt has been hanging around the Capulets so much that everybody thinks of him as a Capulet: they bury him in the Capulet vault, and Romeo calls him "good Capulet, whose name I tender as dearer than my own" which is ironic since Tybalt's name isn't Capulet and in fact, Romeo is more closely related to the Capulets (being married to one) than Tybalt (who has an auntie who is married to one).
Tybalt is Juliet's hot-headed cousin in William Shakespeare's play "Romeo and Juliet".
